Iv'e just started stretching my ears and I am on a 4mm but people tell me they wont grow shrink back to normal?

I've just started stretching my ears and I am on a 4mm but people tell me they wont shrink back to normal and I have others telling me that if I do stretch them they will shrink back as long as I don't go over 12-14mm. I want to be a designer or an architect and people are telling me that there is less chance be being employed if my ears are starched. I only want to go to 6-8 mm so I was wondering from some one who might know, Will they shrink back to normal if I take them out later on in a few years and will stretchers really effect my chances of getting a good gob .
